This page contains a list of all attacks seen throughout the series (at least the first saga and most of the second), including the attacks of the Hiten Mitsurugi Style,  and attacks used by various people seen throughout the show like Saito. Each attack has an image, a short description, and a bit of extra information.



Japanese Name English Translation
Ryu-tsui-sen Dragon Hammer Flash
This is one of Kenshin's main attacks and is basically the ultimate aerial attack with a sword. The original version of this attack ends in the opponent being cut in half, but Kenshin's version with the reverse-blade sword hits a point on the opponent's shoulder that knocks them out for a day or so.

A charging attack done upside down after dodging an attack.

Ryu-son-sen Dragon Nest Flash
This is the first Hiten Mitsurugi style attack we see in the series, the Ryu Son San is a barrage of repetitive hits by the sword at a very fast pace. This attack was also the first attack seen in the Samurai X series by Hiko. When preformed with a regular sword, the person getting hit by this attack gets shredded into several pieces and seems to explode.

Sou-ryu-sen  Twin Dragon Flash

Sou-ryu-sen Kaminari  Twin Dragon Flash Thunder
Basically a Double Battoujutsu, but with the sheath being used to attack first, instead of the sword.

Do-ryu-sen  Earth Dragon Flash
This attack is used for semi long distance attacks with a sword. When used, the force of the blow to the ground causes the ground to erupt in a straight line, sending anyone in its path flying.

Sei-gan  Correct Vision (Stance)

Ku-zu-ryu-sen Nine Head Dragon Flash
A seemingly unblock able attack, it hits all of the basic targets in the span of a second.  An attack only beatable if your opponent strikes first.

Ama-kakeru-ryu-no-hirameki Heaven-Flight-Dragons-Inspiration
The ultimate attack of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu, this attack is a Battoujutsu powered by the users will to live.  This attack surpasses the normal god-like speed of a Battoujutsu.  This attack is truly the ultimate attack, even if the first hit of the blow is dodged, the speed of which it was excuted strips away the movement of the opponent and draws them in twords the user who by then has spun around a second time.  The force of the second part of the attack is greatly increased by the gathered momentum in the spinning around and by the extra impact from the opponent being drawn into it.  This is truly the ultimate attack.

Gatotsu Fang Point
This attack is Hajime Saito's variation of the Hirazuki, the Gatotsu is supposedly the ultimate attack but was beaten by Kenshin after he had seen it four times. This attack if used correctly is lethal to any opponent.
Hirazuki Parallel stab
This attack is the attack that the Gatotsu was based on. The Hirazuki, though not as powerful as a Gatotsu is still very lethal and hard to avoid. This attack was developed by Toshizo Hijikata, the assistant master of the Shinsengumi.

Orochi Eight-Headed Hydra

An attack that is made soley for the Hakujin no Tachi that sends the blade across the ground in small hump like motions.  The blade then stabs forward, if dodged, the blade comes back down at the opponent from above.

Shin-no-ippou One side of the Heart
This attack is used to paralyze an enemies entire body, unless they have an equal or greater level of skill with a sword, they will not be able to defeat this technique. An advancement on this attack is when it is used to paralyze the opponent's lungs, making the opponent suffocate in about 5 minutes.

Hyouki Demon Possesion
This attack is yet another variation of the Shin-no-ippou, this is actually more of an upgrade than an attack but it fits in here best. The Hyouki spell is using the Shin-no-ippou on yourself in order to maximize your full potential. This is the final improvement on the Shin-no-ippou.

Battou-jutsu
This is the Kenshin's most used technique. the Battoujutsu is an attack that uses the speed of drawing the sword from it's sheath to slay an opponent, quickly and efficient . If the opponent somehow dodges the first blow, you're left defenseless for a while. Kenshin's Battousai title was given to him for his mastery of this technique.

Double Battoujutsu
This is the version of the Battoujutsu that eliminates the part where you're left defenseless. After using the Battoujutsu, the user then does a second Battoujutsu except using the sheath.
